Urology

Urology clinics perform urologic examination and render diagnosis and treatment services for adult and pediatric patients.

Diagnosis and Treatment Services in Urology Department

In addition to routine operations such as prostate and bladder TUR, open and laparoscopic stone operations (ureteroscopy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy), the therapy units render diagnostic and therapeutic services in urologic cancer surgeries, pediatric urology surgeries, urodynamics and male sexual dysfunctions.

Medical and surgical treatments (TUR, Greenlight Laser PVP, Greenlight Laser HPS, and Holmium Laser prostate surgeries - HoLEP-Feedback Thermotherapy) are available for urinary conditions caused by benign hyperplasia of prostate. Moreover, we also diagnose prostate health, such as prostate cancer screening, and treatment of prostatitis.

Uro-oncology

Nerve sparing radical prostatectomy (for prostate cancer) and radical cystectomy (for bladder cancer) are frequently carried as part of the service. Moreover, other urologic oncology surgeries, such as renal and testicular cancers, are performed in cooperation with hospital anesthesiology departments, and intensive care units. Treatments are planned in cooperation with medical oncology and radiotherapy departments for some urologic cancer cases.

Endourology and Stone Diseases

Endoscopic (closed) surgeries are also performed for treatment of urinary system stones as part of the service.

Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy is used in addition to surgical treatment. Urology department offers endourologic treatment for stone disease (ureteroscopy, percutaneous renal stone surgery –percutaneous nephrolithotomy).

Female urology

Diseases such as urinary incontinence (stress or urge) and interstitial cystitis are diagnosed and treated as required.

Urodynamics unit enables diagnostic examinations regarding problems related to urinary continence and voiding. Urodynamic studies and Uro-radiologic methods are utilized for diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of all types of urinary incontinence (e.g., bedwetting in children or urinary incontinence diseases in women) and myelodysplasic syndromes (spina bifida).

Andrology

Evaluation, tests, and treatment of erectile dysfunction that implies difficulties in erection and ejaculation in men and male infertility – infertilities arising out of male factors – are planned in cooperation with specialist services.

Pediatric Urology

Pediatric urology deals with congenital or acquired diseases of urogenital system and their treatment in pediatric age, ranging from intrauterine life to newborn infants and subsequent periods. Examples of these diseases are hydrocele, cord cyst, undescended testis, circumcision, emergencies of testes and scrotum (acute scrotum and torsion of testicle) and hypospadias.

Surgical repair of hypospadias (it is a congenital condition, where opening of urethra is located on ventral surface rather than the tip of glans) falls into urologic areas of focus. Hypospadias can be surgically treated.
