Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu is a style of massage which originated in Japan. Shiatsu massage uses finger pressure to restore the flow of energy throughout the body. The name “Shiatsu” comes from two Japanese words "shi" meaning finger, and "atsu" meaning pressure.

What Happens During a Shiatsu Massage?

It is usually performed on a comfortable, padded mat on the floor. The therapist will use a variety of techniques to determine which energy pathways are blocked, depleted or low in energy.

Massage techniques such as tapping, squeezing, rubbing, applied pressure, stretches, rocking and joint rotation can feature during a shiatsu massage. These techniques are applied to your body’s energy channels to unblock any energy blockages within your body. By balancing the flow of energy in the meridians, Shiatsu can help prevent the build-up of stress, and restore vitality and well-being.
